Conforms to the base of the
left atrial appendage

Problem
Closure of the left atrial appendage (LAA) reduces the risk for stroke in patients with AF and in high-risk patients undergoing open heart surgery. The base of the LAA is a curved structure. All current surgical LAA closure devices are linear – making it challenging to place precisely at the base of the LAA, leaving a risk for a residual stump and an ongoing risk of stroke. Additionally, all current surgical LAA closure devices are accompanied by complex delivery systems.
Our Solution
LAACClamp Inc is developing innovative surgical devices designed to completely close the heart’s left atrial appendage (LAA), a major source of stroke-causing blood clots. Currently in pre-clinical development, LAACClamp™ is uniquely curved to conform to the natural anatomy of the LAA, enabling surgeons to place the device precisely at its base. It’s easy to implant using off-the-shelf surgical instruments, eliminating bulky delivery systems and lowering costs. LAACClamp facilitates LAA closure in a more cost-efficient manner for cardiac surgeons worldwide.
